Accessibility
We are committed to making our website accessible. The digital accessibility statement is required under the Berlin Act on Accessible Information and Communication Technology (BIKTG Bln). The technical accessibility requirements are set out in BITV 2.0.
This digital accessibility statement applies to the website
www.kulturraum.berlin
When was the accessibility statement created?
This statement was created on 30.04.2025. The statement is based on a self-assessment.
How accessible is the website?
This website is only partially accessible. It only partially meets the requirements of the Accessible Information Technology Regulation (BITV 2.0) in conjunction with standard EN 301 549 and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA.
Which areas are not accessible?
The areas listed below are not yet fully accessible due to incompatibility with the requirements of BITV 2.0 / EN 301 549 / WCAG 2.1 AA:
Perceptibility:
- Alternative text: Meaningful text alternatives are sometimes missing or insufficiently formulated for images and control elements.
- Contrast: The required minimum contrast levels for text, controls and graphics have not yet been consistently achieved.
- Adaptability: Display issues or loss of information may occur when text is enlarged or the site is used on narrow screens (zoom/reflow). Individual browser settings (e.g. custom colours, fonts) are not consistently applied.
- Easy-to-read language / German Sign Language: The information required by law in easy-to-read language and German Sign Language is not yet available.
Usability:
- Keyboard navigation: Full accessibility and usability of all interactive elements via keyboard alone is not currently guaranteed.
- Focus: The keyboard focus is not yet consistently highlighted in a clearly visible manner. The focus order during keyboard navigation is sometimes illogical.
- Structure & Navigation: The semantic structure of the pages (e.g. correct heading hierarchy) requires correction in some instances. Mechanisms for skipping recurring content blocks are missing.
- Time & Motion: Controls for pausing or hiding moving or automatically updating content are not available.
Comprehensibility:
- Labels: Visible labels for control elements are sometimes not included in the accessible name, which makes operation difficult, e.g. via voice control.
Robustness:
- PDF documents: Some of the PDF documents provided are not designed to be accessible in accordance with the PDF/UA standard.
We are working to resolve the barriers mentioned.
