Subsidised workspaces for long-term use under the Workspace Programme (ARP)

Kultur Räume Berlin awards subsidised spaces to artists from Berlin’s independent arts scene through regular calls for applications under the ARP of the Senate Department for Culture and Social Cohesion.

The range of subsidised spaces is open to independent artists from all artistic disciplines.

Funded spaces for artistic work for long-term use, i.e. generally four or five years, are allocated through a process involving independent, discipline-specific award committees.

Whether you are eligible to apply for a space depends on the specific call for applications and the type of space. If dance studios are advertised, for example, dance companies and dancers may apply. Music rehearsal rooms are offered to musicians, writing studios to writers, and so on. A basic requirement for every application is proof of artistic professionalism, meaning that evidence of artistic training or many years of practical experience must be provided. Applicants must also prove that their primary residence is in Berlin. In the case of groups, ensembles, collectives, etc., the majority of members must have their primary residence in Berlin.

Current calls for applications for artistic workspaces in the fields of performing arts, dance, music, literature and dance can be found on the Kultur Räume Berlin web portal.
