Concept 2.0 for a Berlin Kulturkataster

Spaces for art and culture are a scarce resource in Berlin; many have been lost in recent decades, and numerous others remain at risk of closure. A Berlin Kulturkataster aims to help protect these spaces, develop new ones and strengthen cultural participation. It is based on a public and comprehensive inventory of cultural spaces and venues in a browser-based map application, which is combined with analytically usable contextual data to form a unique tool for cultural urban development.

We would like to thank the entire studio team at ‘Unendliche Möglichkeiten’ for their dedicated efforts in developing the concept paper, as well as all other stakeholders who made themselves available for interviews and provided information throughout the process. We hope that all this knowledge is reflected in the concept paper and that we have thereby laid a solid foundation for further development in the coming months.

Work on developing the Kulturkataster has already begun within our project team, and we plan to release the first digital version in 2025. We would therefore like to invite anyone interested to get actively involved in this exciting process.
