A new chapter for the Uferhallen
Dominik Fornezzi, KRB gGmbH
New studio spaces are planned: the owner will create ten replacement workspaces in currently vacant spaces by early 2025. Primarily due to the necessary construction work, tenants will have to move to temporary premises as a result of the owner’s new-build project. At the same time, the structural condition of the existing buildings is being carefully assessed and necessary maintenance and renovation measures are being drawn up. These measures will be implemented step by step by early/mid-2026. We, the KRB, are currently conducting feasibility studies for the former carriage repair hall, which has the potential to accommodate new workspaces and event spaces.

The phased handover of sections of the premises by KRB and the existing tenants is planned for the next three years, subject to the construction work being completed on schedule. These developments not only safeguard existing jobs for artists, but also create space for new projects. This secures the future of the Uferhallen as a cultural venue! Of great significance here is the symbolic and practical preservation of a place that is far more than just a workspace for Berlin’s cultural scene.
