We at Kulturraum Berlin gGmbH have been working since 2020 to ensure that artists in Berlin can find the spaces they urgently need for their work. Without affordable and suitable spaces, there can be no art, no productions and no cultural initiatives that have made Berlin what it is today – an internationally recognised metropolis of culture and innovation.
Berlin’s cultural diversity needs one thing above all else: spaces. A ten per cent cut in funding not only jeopardises our Workspace Programme and numerous projects, but also poses a long-term threat to the places where art is created and presented. The loss of these spaces would seriously damage Berlin’s image as a cultural capital.
Berlin thrives on culture. Without a stable, sustainable infrastructure for artistic work, the city’s creative pulse will falter. The cuts affect us all – because fewer spaces mean less culture, less cohesion and less diversity.
The KRB team
