Since 2020, Jole has been responsible at KRB for the calls for applications and the award process for the performing arts, literature, music, dance and project spaces within the framework of the workspace programme. Thanks to her expertise in the cultural sector, she ensures that these spaces meet the needs of the artists. In addition, she contributes her knowledge and experience to the development of new venues and usage concepts. How do these fit into the existing landscape, and what developments can be expected? And what kind of spaces do artists need to work under optimal conditions?
As a cultural producer, artist and curator, Jole has many years of experience in Berlin’s independent arts scene. She is a co-founder of the network of independent Berlin project spaces and initiatives and was active for many years on the steering committee of the Koalition der Freien Szene and within the Alliance of Berlin’s Freie Szene e.V. Her time at the Sparwasser HQ project space had a particularly formative influence on her; there, numerous international artists exhibited their work and engaged in extensive discussions with the public. She is a co-founder of the UNWETTER initiative (2002–2018), which, through the ‘Discursive Picnic’ format, pursued interventionist strategies in urban spaces and museum contexts. In addition, she has curated and co-curated numerous exhibitions, including:
2018 – Reframing World – Mobilität und Gender aus postkolonial, feministischer Perspektive
2012 – EXTREME CRAFTS
2008 – pöpp 68 – privat, öffentlich, persönlich, politisch
